User Interface Design for Belgian Healthcare Software Systems
From June 2001 to April 2005, I worked as a Senior UI Designer at Ecode Lanka Software (Pvt) Ltd, contributing to the user interface design of MLine and SteriLine, two healthcare software projects developed for the Belgian hospital sector.
My primary responsibility was to transform traditional software interfaces built within the 4D (4th Dimension) development environment into more visually engaging, intuitive, and user-friendly graphical user interfaces.
Using Adobe Photoshop, I designed graphical interface elements, buttons, icons, and other visual components to modernize the appearance and usability of these applications while working within the existing 4D software environment.
MLine was associated with patient and hospital staff management, while SteriLine supported the management and traceability of medical instrument sterilization processes within hospital sterile services departments.
Working on these healthcare applications provided valuable experience in designing interfaces for complex, operationally demanding software systems. The projects required balancing visual presentation with clarity, consistency, and practical usability.
This period was an important stage in my professional development, strengthening my skills in user interface design, graphical software modernization, and the application of visual design principles to functional business software.
The experience I gained at Ecode Lanka Software helped establish a foundation for my subsequent work in web design, digital platforms, and software interface development.
