Protest Calling for an Independent Investigation into the Central Bank Bond Transactions

Date: February 1, 2017
Location: Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, Colombo, Sri Lanka
Organized by: Association of Independent Professionals
My Contribution: Participation and hand-painted protest placards
On February 1, 2017, I participated in a demonstration organized by the Association of Independent Professionals outside the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption in Colombo.
The demonstration concerned the controversial Sri Lankan Central Bank bond transactions. The association had previously submitted a petition requesting a fair and impartial investigation into the matter.
According to the organizers, approximately three months had passed since the submission of the petition without a response, prompting the association to organize a public demonstration.
In addition to participating in the protest, I personally designed and hand-painted several placards used during the demonstration. These displayed messages reflecting the protesters' concerns about the bond transactions and their calls for accountability and an independent investigation.
This event forms part of my documented involvement in civic and political activities during 2017. It also illustrates how I used my artistic and graphic design skills beyond commercial work, contributing to the visual communication of a public demonstration.
The photographs document both the demonstration outside the commission and the hand-painted placards I created for the occasion.
