Donation of Kitchen Equipment to Flood-Affected Families in Neluwa - 2017

Date: June 1, 2017
Location: Neluwa, Galle District, Sri Lanka
Project: Flood Donations - Neluwa
Category: Disaster Relief and Community Service
In 2017, severe flooding affected communities across Sri Lanka, including the Neluwa area in the Galle District, where many families were displaced and faced difficulties returning to normal life.
Following a request from my friend Sampath Athukorala, I contributed to a relief initiative supporting families affected by the floods in Neluwa.
On June 1, 2017, I arranged the donation of essential kitchen equipment to flood-affected families, helping them restore basic household activities, particularly the preparation of daily meals.
Recovering from a natural disaster involves more than returning to one's home. Families also need essential household items to rebuild their everyday routines. This initiative focused on addressing one of those practical needs.
I have always believed that meaningful community service begins with understanding the immediate needs of people facing hardship and providing assistance wherever possible.
This contribution, undertaken at the request of Sampath Athukorala, remains another meaningful part of my personal record of disaster relief and community service in Sri Lanka.
