On 1 February 2018, I organized an episode of the "Desa Live @10" Facebook discussion series in Dehiwala, featuring Mr. Danasiri Amarathunga as the invited guest.
The programme was presented under the theme "What Does the Future Hold for Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia?" It was intended to encourage public discussion about the future development of the area, the needs of urban communities, and issues relating to local government.
The promotional material introduced Mr. Danasiri Amarathunga as a former Mayor of the Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia Municipal Council. The discussion was designed to explore his experience in local government and his perspectives on the area's future.
Urban infrastructure, public services, municipal facilities, and local development are matters that directly affect residents. By selecting this theme, the programme aimed to draw attention to issues relevant to everyday life in the Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia area.
Through my "Desa" live discussion series, I sought to address regional concerns alongside national political topics. Facebook Live offered an opportunity to bring discussions about particular communities to a wider online audience.
My involvement in the series included coordinating invited guests, selecting discussion themes, preparing promotional artwork, and hosting live conversations. These activities contributed to my experience in digital media and public communication.
This programme forms part of my personal timeline of social media initiatives undertaken in early 2018, reflecting my efforts to encourage public discussion about local governance and urban development.
