On 27 August 2017, I organized an episode of my "Desa Live @7" Facebook discussion series in Colombo 03, featuring Dr. Nalaka Godahewa as the invited guest.
The programme was promoted under a theme concerning the economic direction of national governance. Its purpose was to bring professional perspectives on Sri Lanka's economic situation, government policies, development priorities, and future economic challenges to a wider audience.
Dr. Nalaka Godahewa was known for his involvement in corporate management, institutional leadership, and public discussions relating to economic policy. The promotional material also highlighted his professional background and previous institutional appointments.
During 2017, Sri Lanka's economic management, investment environment, government revenue, development projects, and policy direction were subjects of political and public debate. Against this background, I sought to organize a discussion with a guest who had experience in business administration and economic affairs.
Through my "Desa" live discussion series, I aimed to engage not only political representatives but also professionals with experience in economics, law, development, and other fields. My intention was to make discussions about important national issues accessible through social media.
A dedicated promotional poster was prepared for the programme, featuring Dr. Godahewa's photograph, the discussion theme, the date, and the scheduled 7:00 PM broadcast time. The episode was promoted through the "Desa Hambantota" Facebook page.
My responsibilities included coordinating the invited guest, developing the discussion theme, preparing promotional artwork, and hosting the live programme. These activities contributed to my experience in digital media production, interview coordination, and public communication.
This programme, dated 27 August 2017, forms part of my personal timeline as an example of my efforts to use Facebook Live to facilitate public discussion about Sri Lanka's economic and development policies.
