These photographs were taken during a family gathering held at my brother’s home in Walipillawa to celebrate the Sinhala New Year in 2014.

The New Year has always been a special time for our family—a time when everyone could come together, spend time with one another, share happiness, and strengthen our family bonds. That year, we gathered at my brother’s home and enjoyed the New Year celebrations together.

The first photograph shows my mother, my two sisters, my brother, and me together. The second photograph shows my two sisters, my brother, and me. These photographs preserve some of the simple but joyful moments we shared as a family that day.

As the years pass, photographs like these become increasingly precious. Looking back, this New Year gathering remains a beautiful family memory—a moment when I was able to spend time together with my mother and siblings and preserve that happiness in photographs.
