Opening Bank Accounts for Five Children from the Hanwella Area

On 09 July 2020, bank accounts were opened for five children from Hanwella and the surrounding area at the Sampath Bank branch in Hanwella. An initial amount of money was also deposited into each account for their future.

I wanted this support to be something that could remain useful beyond a single day. Even a small beginning can introduce a child to the value of saving and provide something of their own that can grow with time.

This photograph also reflects the unusual circumstances of 2020, with masks being worn during the COVID-19 period. For me, it remains another meaningful memory from my community service journey, centred on doing something practical for the future of children.
