Visit to the Dambulla Cave Temple

On 15 December 2024, while travelling towards Anuradhapura, we visited the historic Dambulla Cave Temple. My wife and son joined me on this visit, making it a memorable family experience as well.

The ancient cave complex, with its Buddha statues, stupas, paintings and other religious works, offered an opportunity to experience an important part of Sri Lanka's cultural and historical heritage at close range. As someone with a deep interest in Sri Lankan history, visiting such places gives me a different perspective from studying the past through books and historical sources alone.

The natural surroundings and the wide views from the rocky temple area added another dimension to the experience. Spending this time together as a family at one of Sri Lanka's historic religious sites became a memorable part of our journey on 15 December 2024.
