Race Technology Official Website
ව්‍යාපෘතිය පිළිබඳව

Project Overview

The Race Technology website was designed and developed in 2006 by Isura Wickramarachchi in collaboration with JK Concept as the official international website for Race Technology, a company specializing in automotive testing, motorsport data acquisition, and vehicle performance engineering.

Developed as a static HTML website, the project was created to present the company's highly specialized engineering services to an international audience. The website promoted Race Technology's expertise across multiple motorsport and automotive disciplines, including Industrial OEM Testing, Formula Car Circuit Racing, Car Racing, Motorcycle Racing, and Marine Racing.

Unlike conventional corporate websites of the time, the project focused on communicating engineering precision while maintaining a visually exciting motorsport identity. It also featured a multilingual interface, allowing visitors from different regions of the world to access the website in seven languages, making it suitable for an international client base. The company continues to develop automotive testing and data acquisition technologies for OEM manufacturers and motorsport organizations worldwide.

Design & Structure

The website features a bold motorsport-inspired design that immediately communicates speed, technology, and engineering excellence. Rather than using traditional navigation menus and text-heavy layouts, the homepage presents visitors with an interactive visual gateway into the company's different technical disciplines.

The most striking feature is the large Formula racing car illustration integrated into the header alongside a racing speedometer. This instantly establishes the company's connection with high-performance automotive engineering while reinforcing its technical expertise.

Instead of conventional menu systems, the homepage is organised around large photographic navigation panels, each representing one of the company's core business sectors. Visitors simply select the discipline most relevant to their interests, creating a highly intuitive browsing experience.

The interface combines deep blue, metallic silver, white, and orange to create a modern engineering aesthetic that reflects both precision and speed. Large areas of white space balance the strong graphics, ensuring that the design remains clean and uncluttered.

Unique Design Concept

One of the website's most innovative aspects was its visual navigation system. During 2006, most engineering websites relied on text-based menus. Race Technology instead transformed each business division into a large graphical navigation tile, allowing visitors to enter different technical areas through imagery rather than lengthy text menus.

Another notable feature was its multilingual architecture, supporting:

  • English
  • French
  • German
  • Spanish
  • Chinese
  • Arabic
  • Russian

This international approach significantly expanded the company's accessibility and reflected its growing global customer base.

Significance

The Race Technology project represents one of Isura Wickramarachchi's most distinctive international engineering websites. Designed for a company operating in the highly specialized field of automotive testing and motorsport technology, the website successfully combined technical credibility with an exciting visual identity inspired by professional racing.

Its multilingual structure, innovative image-based navigation, and strong motorsport branding demonstrated how engineering companies could move beyond traditional corporate websites and create engaging online experiences without sacrificing professionalism. The homepage's Formula racing imagery, category-driven navigation, and clean interface reflected the company's expertise in high-performance automotive testing while making the website accessible to a worldwide audience.

The project also illustrates Isura Wickramarachchi's approach to designing industry-specific digital experiences, where every visual element reinforces the client's field of expertise. Rather than using generic corporate layouts, the website embraced the energy and precision of motorsport to create a memorable and technically appropriate online presence. More than two decades later, it remains an excellent example of early international automotive engineering web design, showcasing how creativity, branding, and usability could be successfully combined for a global technical audience.
