Oriental Village Veterinary Hospital Website
Project Overview
The Oriental Village Veterinary Hospital website was designed and developed by Isura Wickramarachchi in 2008 in partnership with wEBB&FLOW USA. The website served as the official online presence for a full-service veterinary hospital located in Oriental, North Carolina, providing comprehensive medical and surgical care for companion animals under the leadership of Dr. Sherri Hicks, DVM. The website introduced the hospital's services, facilities, operating hours, and pet care resources while making it easy for pet owners to access essential information.
Design & Structure
The website featured a professional veterinary-themed design using blue, cream, and white colours to create a welcoming and trustworthy appearance.
The homepage included:
- A large banner featuring dogs and cats, reinforcing the hospital's focus on companion animal care.
- A left-side navigation menu for quick access to hospital information.
- Dedicated sections highlighting the hospital's mission and pet health information.
- A clearly displayed schedule of operating hours.
- Professional association and accreditation logos to strengthen credibility.
- A clean multi-column layout designed for easy navigation by pet owners.

Significance
The Oriental Village Veterinary Hospital project demonstrated Isura Wickramarachchi's ability to design professional healthcare websites for international clients. Developed in partnership with wEBB&FLOW USA, the website provided a clear and welcoming digital platform that promoted the hospital's veterinary services, enhanced communication with pet owners, and strengthened the clinic's professional online presence.
Dr. Sherri Hicks
Doctor Sherri Hicks traces her start as a veterinarian to her days in the Marine Corps. While stationed at Parris Island, she got her very first dog which she named “Private”. But he soon outranked Sherri when it came to medical issues. Heartworms as a puppy, chronic skin problems. “I spent more time at Private’s medical appointments than my own ,” Sherri says. And during that time, she says, she realized she also wanted to help animals and their owners.
Sherri has been running Oriental Village Veterinary Hospital since the Spring of 2004. (That’s when she crossed the river after working at Brigadoon Animal Hospital in Cape Carteret.) She loves the village atmosphere in Oriental, and is perhaps best known as “the vet who climbed in through the doggie door” when a fire broke out near a client’s home.
Wendy
Our receptionist Wendy Seward has worked at Oriental Village Veterinary Hospital for 5 years. (Or if you prefer, 35 dog years.) She is versatile, with abroad knowledge of veterinary medicine and a friendly spirit. A longtime Oriental resident, Wendy knows nearly every client and patient by name, without having to look at the chart.
David
David Carter has been a veterinary assistant and technician for half a dozen years, much of it in emergency veterinary medicine. David first got his practice working on humans when he was a Navy Corpsman . He says he prefers pets as patients because of their unconditional love. You may also find David tending to the condition of the landscaping around the Oriental Village Veterinary Hospital.
