Distribution of Sanitation and Cleaning Supplies to Flood-Affected Families

Date: 25 May 2016
Location: Walpita and surrounding areas, Sri Lanka
Organization: Isura Wickramarachchi Foundation
Special Coordination: Wimal Weerawansa
In May 2016, severe flooding affected numerous families in Walpita and surrounding communities. Several homes were inundated, forcing residents to temporarily leave their houses.
As floodwaters receded, affected families faced the difficult task of cleaning their homes and restoring safe and hygienic living conditions before returning.
Recognizing this immediate need, the Isura Wickramarachchi Foundation organized the distribution of sanitation and cleaning supplies on 25 May 2016, with the involvement of Mr. Wimal Weerawansa.
The assistance included cleaning liquids, household cleaning equipment, and other essential sanitation materials. These supplies were distributed to families whose homes had been affected by floodwaters.
The primary objective was to provide practical support during the recovery period, helping residents clean their homes and begin returning to normal daily life.
As this disaster affected people in my own community, the opportunity to assist them through the Isura Wickramarachchi Foundation was personally meaningful. This initiative remains an important part of my record of community service and disaster-relief activities.
