My historical reference work, Mahawansa Pradeepikawa, was accepted by the Bodleian Libraries of the University of Oxford, United Kingdom, and catalogued in its SOLO library discovery system in 2026. This represents a significant international milestone in my journey as an independent researcher, author, and documenter of Sri Lankan history.
The Bodleian Libraries form one of the world's most established academic library systems, with a distinguished history of preserving and providing access to scholarly publications and historical resources. The inclusion of my book in its catalogue marks an important step in documenting my work within an internationally recognized academic library environment.
Mahawansa Pradeepikawa is a 650-page, full-colour historical reference publication developed through approximately ten years of independent research. It explores Sri Lanka's royal history and dynastic relationships through more than 180 genealogical charts, over 200 reconstructed historical portraits, and information compiled from more than 300 historical and academic sources.
My primary objective in creating this publication was to make Sri Lanka's royal history more accessible and engaging, particularly for younger generations. By combining historical research, genealogical visualization, artistic reconstruction, and digital technology, I sought to develop a reference work that would encourage readers to explore and appreciate the country's historical heritage.
The inclusion of Mahawansa Pradeepikawa in the Bodleian Libraries' SOLO catalogue establishes a discoverable bibliographic record of the publication within the University of Oxford's library system. While library acceptance and cataloguing do not constitute an academic endorsement of every historical interpretation presented in the book, they represent a meaningful milestone in the international documentation of my published research.
For me, this achievement carries considerable personal significance. What began as a long-term commitment to studying Sri Lanka's royal history has resulted in a publication recorded within one of the world's most distinguished academic library systems.
I regard this milestone not merely as a personal accomplishment, but also as an encouraging step in my continuing effort to document, preserve, and share Sri Lanka's historical heritage with future generations.
The acceptance and cataloguing of Mahawansa Pradeepikawa by the Bodleian Libraries, University of Oxford, remains one of the important international milestones in my historical research and publishing journey.
