Films.lk is one of Sri Lanka's most comprehensive and influential online cinema platforms, dedicated to preserving, documenting, and promoting the rich heritage of Sinhala cinema. Established in 2009 by Isura Wickramarachchi, the website was created with the vision of bringing together every aspect of the Sri Lankan film industry into a single, accessible digital archive.
Over the years, Films.lk has grown far beyond a traditional movie website. It serves as a trusted reference for film enthusiasts, researchers, journalists, students, filmmakers, and industry professionals by providing accurate and well-organized information about Sri Lankan films, artists, directors, technicians, production companies, cinema history, award ceremonies, and upcoming releases. The platform has become an important resource for documenting the evolution of Sinhala cinema and preserving valuable historical records for future generations.
The website was developed with the belief that Sri Lankan cinema is an important part of the nation's cultural heritage and that its history should be preserved in a modern, searchable, and publicly accessible form. By collecting information that was previously scattered across newspapers, magazines, personal collections, and industry archives, Films.lk has helped create one of the largest digital repositories dedicated exclusively to Sinhala cinema.
Today, Films.lk continues to connect audiences with the Sri Lankan film industry by providing information on current releases, cinema schedules, artists, historical productions, national film awards, and industry developments. It acts as a bridge between generations of filmmakers and cinema lovers, ensuring that both classic masterpieces and contemporary productions remain easily discoverable in the digital age.
More than just a website, Films.lk represents a long-term commitment to preserving the legacy of Sri Lankan cinema while supporting its future growth. Through its dedication to documentation, accessibility, and public engagement, it has established itself as one of the most recognised and respected online platforms devoted to the Sinhala film industry.
