Flying Home from Doha to Colombo

On 30 April 2026, I began my journey from Doha to Sri Lanka for my holiday. When I arrived at the airport, it felt noticeably different from the busy atmosphere I was accustomed to seeing. With the ongoing conflict at the time and its impact on air travel, the airport appeared much quieter than on a normal travel day.

These photographs preserve different moments of the journey, from waiting at the airport in Doha to finally being on board and heading towards Colombo.

As the flight continued, the view through the aircraft window changed into a beautiful sunset above the clouds. It became one of the memorable sights of the journey home.

For me, this was more than another DOH-CMB flight. It marked the beginning of my return to Sri Lanka, my family, and the many important personal moments that would follow during my 2026 visit.
