Attending the Eliya Programme in Kosgama

On 17 November 2018, I attended the "Eliya" programme held at Ravenro Garden Hotel in Kosgama, Sri Lanka. The event formed part of my involvement in public discussions and social and political activities during that period.

The Eliya initiative was associated with public discussions on national policy, governance, economic affairs, and social issues in Sri Lanka. Its programmes provided a platform for speakers from different backgrounds to present their perspectives on matters of national interest.

The event took place during a particularly significant period in Sri Lanka's political history. The constitutional and political crisis that began in October 2018 had generated extensive public debate about governance, parliamentary authority, and the country's political future. The Kosgama gathering was held against this wider national backdrop.

The venue was filled with attendees, reflecting the scale of the gathering. Photographs from the event show a large auditorium, a prominent stage, digital presentation screens, professional lighting, and several video cameras positioned for media coverage.

Participating in public programmes of this nature was an important part of my wider social and political engagement. Such occasions offered opportunities to listen to different perspectives on national issues and observe the discussions taking place within Sri Lanka's political environment.

My professional background in graphic design, website development, and digital media also gave me an interest in the technical and visual aspects of large public events. The stage presentation, audiovisual arrangements, and media coverage were additional elements I could observe during the programme.

The photographs I preserved from the occasion include views of the audience, the main stage, and a personal photograph taken with my wife. These images document both the public event and a personal memory associated with our attendance.
