Project Overview

A4 Appliances was designed and developed by Isura Wickramarachchi in 2008 as the official website for a UK-based supplier of new, graded, and reconditioned household appliances. Built using PHP/MySQL, the website enabled the company to showcase its extensive range of domestic appliances while promoting repair services, spare parts, delivery, and business solutions.

The platform was developed to provide customers with a simple and efficient way to browse products, learn about available services, and contact the company for purchases or repairs.

Design & Structure

The website featured a clean retail-oriented layout with a professional blue and orange colour scheme that reflected trust and reliability. The homepage was designed to provide quick access to both products and services, ensuring visitors could easily find the information they needed.

The layout was organised into three main sections:

Left Sidebar: Product categories such as cookers, refrigerators, washing machines, microwaves, vacuum cleaners, kettles, ovens, and other household appliances.
Centre Content Area: Featured products, promotional offers, and company highlights, focusing on current appliance deals.
Right Panel: Product showcases displaying featured appliances with images, allowing visitors to quickly explore popular products.

The structured navigation and organised product presentation created a straightforward shopping experience while maintaining a clean and uncluttered appearance.

Unique Design Concept

The website was designed as a complete appliance sales and service portal, combining product listings with after-sales services. Rather than functioning as a simple product catalogue, it highlighted appliance sales, repair services, spare parts availability, delivery options, and business support within a single platform.
