For “Apamana Minisek”, I developed a portrait-led cover that places the personality at the centre of the publication. The intention was to create a design that felt dignified, approachable and immediately identifiable, rather than relying on complex decorative graphics.

The restrained background provides generous visual space around the portrait, while the Sinhala title treatment becomes an important part of the composition. This balance between portraiture, typography and negative space gives the cover a clean visual hierarchy and allows the subject to communicate directly with the reader.

As a biographical publication, the design required the individual and the story surrounding him to remain more important than the graphic treatment itself. I therefore used design as a supporting element—creating a distinctive identity while allowing the personality portrayed on the cover to remain its strongest visual feature.

My contribution is formally credited in the published book as the cover designer, making Apamana Minisek another completed publication within my professional Book Cover Design portfolio.
